“The Clear-Thinking Christian” is a blog written and maintained by me — Michael Moyles. I’m a career military officer, but have also been studying theology (not just Christianity) for most of my adult life. I started leading Bible studies in high school, continued through college, then spent several years mostly uninvolved in any particular religion, but continued to study them. Through a series of events, in 1997 I was directed back to Christianity, and since then have made it a constant passion to study, understand, investigate, and defend the Christian worldview. In 2014, I completed my Master’s Degree in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. The following year, I completed my Master’s Degree in Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies. I have a lot to learn, I don’t always get it right, and I’m not above changing my views if presented with clear evidence and argument to the contrary.
An engineer by trade, I have a double bachelor’s in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, and Master’s Degrees in Information Systems Management and Space Systems Engineering.
I am a husband and father, five-time brain cancer survivor, and — besides religion — I am passionate about my family and fitness. I also manage a small fitness-based fundraising team, and you can learn more at http://www.fightingthroughfitness.com.
Thanks for stopping by — and feel free to send me a note with any questions, comments, or other feedback.
Mike, I like the new blog. I read the first few you posted to FB and didn’t realize you were writing them. These are great. When I have more time I will send you questions.
Mike, I just read about you in Command. You and your girls are an amazing example of God’s faithfulness and love. I’d love to connect. Have you heard of Military Ministry? (Cru Military) We have ministry at the USAFA. I’d love to fill you in. R, Joe Joe Ludwikowski Executive Director, The Military Ministry of Cru, Captain US Navy (Retired)
Thank you for introducing me to this blog. Thankful for these articles. I am learning so much!

Hi Michael
I’m really interested to hear more about your theology. I live in melbourne Australia. I’ve been drawn to Jesus since I was 8. In recent times I’m finding God more and more outside of the Church. Bring a Priest’s wife and a former theology student myself, this is kinda strange – but intriguing.
Do you read much Richard Rohr? Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Sonia!
Thanks so much for the note and for the kind words. I’m an avid reader, and I read several books a week — but I’ve never read anything by Richard Rohr. My favorite authors are probably William Lane Craig, Frank Turek, Mike Licona, and several others. Glad you’re enjoying the blog…and let me know if you have any theology questions! In Him,
— Mike
